Individual Programs

Academic Programs:

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum Foundation is proud to offer Cars, Children and Community, education programs for students in grades K-12 designed to:
  • increase students' knowledge of science and social and historical changes brought about by the automobile;
  • help students make connections to classroom learning and to maximize their visit to the Museum;
  • enhance students' understanding of the many people, processes and parts it takes to make a car; and
  • introduce students to automotive-related careers.

Let’s Go – Grades K – 1
This teacher-lead program engages students in hands-on activities and more. Shapes, colors, numbers and letter sounds become the tools for understanding the exciting world of automobiles and transportation. Comprehensive support materials reinforce basic skills and extend the Museum experience to the classroom.

Rolling Along! – Grades 2 – 3
This teacher-led program provides opportunities for students to connect concepts related to shapes, textures, simple machines, force and energy and geography to the story of Walter P. Chrysler and Chrysler automotive heritage. Pre- and post-visit activities prepare students to apply concepts presented during the Museum experience to the classroom setting.

Cruising Through Time – Grades 4 – 6
In addition to exploring Chrysler's unique automotive heritage, this updated and enhanced program provides students the opportunity to discover their skills set and the value of teamwork as they build race cars, just like the legendary RAMCHARGERS team. Pre- and post-visit cross-curricular activites extend field trip-related concepts to the classroom.

Exploring Automotive Careers, Changes and Challenges - Grades 7+
Using examples from Chrysler's heritage, this program highlights how streamlining in the 1930s, downsizing in the 1970s and today’s search for energy alternatives have brought new and unexpected jobs to the automotive workforce. A tour through the Museum focuses on critical-thinking exercises that help students explore their own career preferences.
